Energy-Constrained Delivery of Goods With Drones Under Varying Wind Conditions

In this paper, we study the feasibility of sending drones to deliver goods from a depot customer by solving what call Mission-Feasibility Problem (MFP). Due payload constraints, drone can serve only one at time. To end, propose novel framework based on time-dependent cost graphs properly model MFP and tackle delivery dynamics. When moves in area, global wind may change thereby affecting drone's energy consumption, which turn increase or decrease. This issue is addressed designing three algorithms, namely: (i) compute route minimum once, beginning mission, (ii) dynamically reconsider most convenient trip towards destination, (iii) select best local choice. We evaluate performance our algorithms both synthetic real-world data. The changes consumption are reflected edges graphs. receive new costs every time flies over vertex, they have no full knowledge advance weights. compare them terms percentage missions that completed with success (the delivers comes back depot), delivered but cannot come failure neither nor depot).
